Personally iv never met this guy but he sure hit the nail on the head, i cant wait for the day our countrymen will begin to think like this... one up for this guy, he is a chap after my heart. More charity please...

WELCOME TO OUR BLOG

Welfare concerns are primarily related to the general lack of development and the effects on the society. Given the steady population growth and the decline in urban services and government spending on social services since 1980, it has become difficult for the mass of the people at the lower income level, to maintain a balanced social life. The challenges of malnutrition, poor health, and overcrowded housing are perpetual issues, which have in no small measure contributed greatly to the social dysfunction permeating the land. Nigeria had no social security system, less than 1 percent of the population older than sixty years receive pensions because of the younger age of urban migrants; there were fewer older people per family unit in urban areas. There is strong evidence that the traditional practice of caring for parents is beginning to erode under harsh conditions of scarcity in urban areas. The situation has affected all and sundry, however as in most circumstances children have had to bear the brunt of the challenges these monumental issues pose. However in recent times the situation seems to be changing for the better as corporate organisations have begun to wake up to their responsibilities as partners in progress in the development of the Nigerian society. Businesses have made it their business to impact their areas of influence by giving back to the community, as a way of showing that they are socially responsible. Unfortunately it is not yet uhuru as new challenges have come to fore, in the area of getting the aid to those it is meant for, who happen to need it the most. Though there are quite a number of organisations that are geared towards receiving and distributing aid, there seems to be a clear lack of focus in the way things are done. The desire to give is not enough, as in many instances funding for social projects get diverted into other things it wasn’t meant for. This has been a major challenge for donors both corporate and private individuals, as there seems to be a consistent diversion of funds meant for social projects to other things. A major reason for this has to be the crippling snag of corruption, which has permeated every facet of our public life. Link-A-Child is a registered not-for-profit organization. Our primary focus is to help improve the quality of life for the disadvantaged child (Orphans, Abandoned children and the Less-advantaged children), by meeting their needs in the areas of health care, education, shelter, food and clothing. At Link-A-Child, our desire is to bridge the gap between the society, and the disadvantaged child, wherever they may exist. MISSION STATEMENT: Our commitment is to improve the quality of life for the disadvantaged child, wherever they may be found.
